Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: The Phone Everyone Is Talking About
Samsung didn't just release a new phone this year. It may have reset expectations for what a flagship device can do.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra, unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked on February 25 and releasing March 11, has already been named "Best in Show" at Mobile World Congress 2026 — and the specs explain why.
What's new
The S26 Ultra runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Its 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display hits 2600 nits brightness with Gorilla Armor 2 protection, according to Samsung.
The camera system is where reviewers are pausing. A 200MP primary sensor pairs with a 50MP telephoto offering 5x optical zoom and 10x optical-quality zoom. Low-light performance, per early reviews at TechRadar, is "everything you could want."
The S26 Ultra's 200MP camera system has drawn early comparisons to professional photography equipment.
The privacy display
The standout feature nobody expected: the world's first mobile Privacy Display, which dims screen visibility from side angles. In an era where shoulder-surfing is a genuine security concern, it's a practical innovation dressed up in premium hardware.
The price question
With flagship Android pricing typically north of $1,200, the S26 Ultra isn't for everyone. But for power users, photographers, and anyone running their business from their phone, it's a serious machine.
Apple will be watching closely. The question now is whether Samsung's AI features can actually change how people use their devices day-to-day — or whether this remains impressive hardware in search of a killer use case.
