Witherspoon Weds in Color, Starting a New Trend
When Reese Witherspoon married talent agent Jim Toth at her ranch in Ojai, California, on March 26, 2011, she broke one of bridal tradition's firmest rules: the Oscar winner, 35, walked down the aisle in pale pink, not white.
The strapless blush gown was custom-designed by Monique Lhuillier and paired with satin Jimmy Choo platform sandals. Toth, 40, wore a gray Rag & Bone suit.
Second-time brides skipping white is an old convention, but Witherspoon — divorced from Ryan Phillippe in 2007 — treated color as a style choice rather than a rule. "White is totally fine, but so are other colors," Brides.com editor-in-chief Julie Raimondi told Us Weekly.
The rustic, country-themed reception — sit-down dinner, dancing, s'mores — saw Witherspoon change into a short white cocktail dress, in front of guests including Scarlett Johansson and Renee Zellweger.
