Aarushi murder case: non-bailable warrant for Nupur Talwar, next hearing April 18

The special CBI court in Ghaziabad issued a non-bailable warrant against Nupur Talwar on April 11, 2012, for failing to appear before it in the murder case of her daughter Aarushi. The judge fixed April 18 as the next date of hearing and directed that Nupur be produced before the court on that date.

When CBI officers reached her Noida residence that evening to execute the warrant, they found Dr. Nupur Talwar missing \u2014 prompting reports that she was "absconding." The court had taken cognizance of the CBI's closure report and summoned both parents, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, as accused in the 2008 double murder of 14-year-old Aarushi and the Talwars' domestic help Hemraj.

Nupur Talwar surrendered before the court on April 30, 2012, and was sent to judicial custody; she was granted bail later that year. In November 2013, a CBI court convicted both Rajesh and Nupur Talwar of the murders. In October 2017, the Allahabad High Court acquitted them, finding the evidence against them insufficient.
