Weight Loss Is Not Magic

Weight loss is not magic, and it is never instant. If the extra weight took months or years to accumulate, losing it will take time too. There is no miracle diet that makes the pounds disappear overnight.
That remains the least fashionable and most honest sentence in weight-loss writing. Crash diets promise speed and mostly deliver rebound. The approaches that actually last tend to be unspectacular: smaller portions, regular meals, a daily walk — changes a person can live with, repeated until they compound.
