'Boyhood,' 'Transparent' make history at the Golden Globes

Richard Linklater's Boyhood — filmed over 12 years — took Best Drama at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, while Amazon's Transparent made history as the first streaming series ever to win a Golden Globe, taking Best Comedy.

Transparent, Jill Soloway's comedy-drama about a transgender parent, brought the evening's most emotional resonance. Transgender actress Alexandra Billings, who plays Davina on the series, told Variety she was overwhelmed by the show's reception: "I knew the writing was fantastic, I knew it was a great group of actors. But to have the public embracing us the way it has is overwhelming."

The night's big acting winners: Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) and Julianne Moore (Still Alice) in the drama categories; Michael Keaton (Birdman) and Amy Adams (Big Eyes) in comedy; Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent) and Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) on television.
