Shahrukh's upcoming movie Fan

Shah Rukh Khan's Fan was one of his most talked-about projects long before it released — a double role in which he played both a movie superstar, Aryan Khanna, and Gaurav, the obsessive Delhi fan who looks exactly like him and turns threatening when his idol disappoints him.

Directed by Maneesh Sharma — who won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director for Band Baaja Baaraat — the film let SRK revisit the dark, obsessive territory of Darr, this time from both sides of the obsession. Khan himself described the premise's appeal: "I have never seen life from a point of someone who likes me. It would be very interesting for me to be on the other side. To be a fan, what does it mean — felt like a good idea, and it's diametrically opposite to who I am."

The film was initially expected in August 2015, but production delays pushed it to April 15, 2016. On release, Fan earned strong reviews for Khan's dual performance — particularly the prosthetics-assisted Gaurav — even as it divided audiences commercially.
