S. Ramadorai Resigns as NSDA Chief Amid Talk He Could Replace Cyrus Mistry
Former Tata Consultancy Services vice-chairman S. Ramadorai has resigned as chairman of the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) — a post he held in the rank of Cabinet Minister — and also as chairman of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
According to sources, Ramadorai had put in his papers citing health issues in late September to the Prime Minister's office, which was subsequently accepted. The resignation comes at a time when the rumor mill is heating up over Ramadorai potentially replacing the ousted Cyrus Mistry as Tata Sons chairman.
Sources add that Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship secretary Rohit Nandan will discharge the duties of interim chairman of NSDA for now. News agency PTI adds that the NSDC board is likely to meet to discuss the future road map after the resignation.
Update: as it turned out, Ramadorai did not get the Tata Sons job — N. Chandrasekaran, then TCS chief, was appointed chairman in January 2017.
