Aamir Khan to Anchor Reality TV Show
Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan was set to appear on television for the first time — with a show about India and its stories.
It's a show that showcases real stories, real lives and real emotions. Commenting on the concept, the actor said he wanted the show to reach every Indian home and connect families with the issues facing the country.
The project took shape as Satyamev Jayate — a talk show dealing with serious social issues, from female foeticide and child sexual abuse to dowry, medical malpractice and caste discrimination. It marked Aamir Khan's television debut when it premiered on May 6, 2012, airing simultaneously on Star Plus, Star's regional channels and the national broadcaster Doordarshan — a first for Indian television.
The show ran for three seasons (2012–2014), won praise from social activists and the media for its research and hard-hitting treatment of sensitive subjects, and is remembered as one of Indian television's most ambitious experiments in using entertainment for social change.
