Alec Baldwin, 54, expecting a baby girl

A girl, not "Massimo"

It seems Alec Baldwin is going to have to find a new name for his baby. The excited father-to-be, 54, had revealed plans to call the child Massimo — if it was a boy.

But his wife Hilaria revealed that she is expecting a girl, and couldn't be happier. "Alec and I are overjoyed that we are going to be welcoming a little girl into our lives," she said on Extra.

The baby would be a half-sister to Alec's daughter Ireland, 17, from his first marriage to Kim Basinger — and, along with the couple's two dogs (also female), it meant the 30 Rock star would be living in a very feminine household. He had, rather obviously, been hoping for a boy to balance things out.

The naming debate

Speaking on the Rachael Ray Show, Hilaria — a former yoga teacher who works as Extra's lifestyle correspondent — was noncommittal about the name game: "[Alec] had the idea for Massimo the other day. It's a lovely name, I just don't know. That's a very big name for a very little baby. We have a different idea almost every single day. I think you actually have to look at it once it pops out and say, 'Who are you? What is your name?'"

The outcome

The couple, who married in June 2012, hadn't planned on a baby quite so soon — Hilaria found out she was expecting at Christmas. "It was something that we both wanted... we were very excited when we found out. But we just got married in June... so it was a really nice Christmas present."

The prediction held: in August 2013, Hilaria gave birth to a daughter, Carmen Gabriela Baldwin — her first child, and Alec's second.
