Chicago Area Folks Join for a Happening Holi, April 16 at Prisco Center

Holi — the festival of colors — comes to Chicago's western suburbs this spring. A community Holi celebration is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, at the Prisco Community Center (150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora), where families can gather to throw color, share sweets, and welcome spring together.

Holi marks the arrival of spring and, in the stories told around it, the triumph of good over evil — the devotion of Prahlad over his father Hiranyakashipu's cruelty. For many Indians abroad, it's the one day of the year when the distance from home feels shortest: gulal on clothes, music everywhere, and no one left out.
