‘Leo's fatter now, and I'm thinner’: Kate Winslet's dig at her Titanic co-star, 15 years on

She famously struggled with her weight during the early years of her fame \u2014 but fifteen years after Titanic, Kate Winslet was in a joking mood about how things had flipped.

Promoting the 3D re-release of Titanic on ITV's Daybreak, Winslet looked back on making the film with Leonardo DiCaprio and took a playful swipe at her old co-star. "We do look very different, we're older," she said. "Leo's 37, I'm 36 \u2014 we were 21 and 22 when we made that film. You know, he's fatter now \u2014 I'm thinner." She added, laughing: "It's true though!"

Watching the film again for the 3D release was its own experience. "The second my face came on I was like, 'Oh my God, make it stop, switch it off, somebody make it stop, turn the sound down, is that what we looked like? Oh my God, look what I looked like and look what Leo looks like!'" she said. "It was completely bizarre \u2014 it was like somebody saying we're going to take a home video that we made of you that's three-and-a-half hours long and we're going to make the world watch it all over again."

The two have been friends for years \u2014 Winslet has often said DiCaprio is like a brother to her \u2014 and the ribbing was clearly affectionate. Claire Danes, who played opposite DiCaprio in Romeo + Juliet, piled on the same week, joking that they were now "big fat grown-ups."
